March 8 was Women’s Day, so here is my personal message: Happy Women’s Day to all of us.
Being a woman is not easy. Honestly, it never has been. Because of that, you should be proud of yourself. You are worthy, you are smart, you are beautiful, and you are special in your own way.
So yes…

Iran has a new president
Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ali Khamenei (the leader who was killed at the beginning of the war), has been chosen as the new president of Iran.
And here is the part that raised a few eyebrows.
Trump said “If he (the new leader) doesn’t have our approval, it won’t last long.”
On the same line, Israeli forces stated that they will continue monitoring any successor and anyone involved in choosing Iran’s new leadership.
The new president later broadcast a message on Iranian state TV saying that Iran will continue blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
(ICYM: this strait is the busiest oil shipping route in the world.)
But funny enough, what generated the most buzz is the fact that the new president has not made a public appearance yet.
According to the news agency Reuters, an unnamed Iranian official claimed that Khamenei was “lightly injured”, although no further details have been confirmed.
So… yes. The situation remains a bit mysterious.

Petroleum prices keep going up
With the war continuing, oil prices keep rising. And rising. And rising.
As of today (March 13), the price of a barrel is between $90 and $100.
After Iran’s latest declaration about blocking the Strait of Hormuz, the leaders of the G7 gathered urgently to discuss the situation.
However, they decided not to release their emergency oil reserves yet. This type of decision can control prices in the short term, but the leaders said they prefer to wait for a more critical moment.
Meanwhile, on Thursday (March 12), President Lula announced that the Brazilian government will reduce tariffs on diesel and increase taxes on oil exports by up to 12%.

Banco Master — Vorcaro remains arrested
The Second Panel of the Supreme Court voted to keep banker Daniel Vorcaro under arrest.
Minister Dias Toffoli declared himself unable to judge any cases related to Banco Master because of his previous involvement with the bank.
The decision supports the Federal Police investigation, which claims that Vorcaro led a group that monitored, intimidated, and pressured opponents, journalists, and public authorities.
So yes… things are still unfolding.

Now you’re in New Yooork… (well, almost)
I know this news is in the Brazil section, but hear me out.
São Paulo wants its own Times Square.
The city’s Urban Landscape Protection Commission has approved a project nicknamed “Boulevard São João.”
The idea is simple: companies will be allowed to install digital advertisements. In exchange, they must invest in improvements for the area.
But there is a rule.
Advertisements can only appear 30% of the time between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. The other 70% will be dedicated to digital art, culture, and public service information.
So yes, São Paulo might soon have its own neon lights moment.

Is Timothée Chalamet’s golden era over?
During an interview for CNN/Variety alongside actor Matthew McConaughey, Timothée Chalamet said he has no interest in working in ballet or opera, adding that “no one cares about this anymore.”
Well… the internet did care.
The comment quickly caused backlash, and several artists criticized the statement.
And the timing? Not exactly perfect.
The controversy happened right before the Oscars nominations were announced. And guess which actor didn’t receive a nomination this year?
Yes… Timothée.
Let’s just say that comment aged very quickly.
